Auto parts manufacturers are very concerned about the possibility that either General Motors Corp. or Chrysler L.L.C.or bothwill seek protection under the Chapter 11 umbrella.
But those that make critical components for core vehicle lines are certainly in a better position than those who play a secondary role or make parts for lines that may be discontinued.
Better yet, companies that have been diversifying in the last few years are in the best shape, according to Dennis Virag, president of Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Automotive Consulting Group Inc.
