Macrolide endectocides, also called macrocyclic lactones or, colloquially, avermectins (Figure 1), have very high potencies against a broad range of economically important endoparasites and ectoparasites; hence the name endectocides. The parasites include nematodes; heart, lung, and intestinal worms; arthropods; mange mites; biting and sucking lice, fleas, and ticks (1).
