In a report issued March 18, 2008, the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) called on member states which have not already done so to decriminalize abortion. This first PACE report on abortion is due to be discussed during the plenary session to be held April 14-18, 2008.
"Abortion on request is, in theory, available in all Council of Europe member states except Andorra, Malta, Monaco, Ireland and Poland," explains the author of the report Gisela Wurm (Austria, SOC).
