Sand is not the same; let's go back to grass

I couldn't disagree more with Jan C. Scow's April 14 letter, "Grass is all wrong," in which she states that she was startled to learn "that the city is planning to plant sod back into the Plaza."

We are considered semi-desert, not desert, and to suggest that grass would make the Plaza look more like a "British park" is a real stretch of the imagination. The fact is, the Plaza has had grass at least since I was a kid, and that's some 85 years ago. Having grass is very restful to the eyes and seeing people stretched out on the lawn, playing with their children and enjoying themselves, is what the Plaza is all ...
