Plastic-tipped bullets aren't really all that new and I recall shooting such bullets more than 40 years ago. They were loaded by C-I-L (Canadian Industries, Ltd.) and were called Sabretips.

I used the Sabretips in a .303 British Lee Enfield and a Winchester 94.30-30. They shot all right, at least as good as any other loads. Since both rifles were equipped with open iron sights I was more limited by sighting ability than by ammunition. In the early 1970s, C-I-L marketed bullets for reloaders. I used Sabretip bullets mainly in calibers .270 Win and .300 Win Mag. I still have a few boxes of ammunition and some bullets on hand.
