A 40-year-old man presented with 2-week-old tender, violaceous rashes on the lower parts of both legs that were clinically suspicious for vasculitis. He also had an indurated plaque on the right upper thigh, mild gingival hypertrophy, an 8-year history of Crohn's disease, and a diverting ileostomy.
Diagnosis: Scurvy
San Francisco -- Because the tender purpuric rash on his legs raised suspicions of vasculitis, the patient had been sent to a dermatologist for consultation.
