South Korean shipbuilders, struggling with tumbling orders due largely to the global funding crunch, are hopeful about winning lucrative deals for oil vessels as global energy giants are gearing up for oil and gas development projects.

According to a South Korean industry association on Tuesday, Royal Dutch Shell, Brazil's Petrobras and Chevron Corp.'s Gorgon liquefied natural gas venture in Australia are expected to issue tenders for tankers worth US$79 billion over the next few years.
