NEW YORK -- As U.S. consumer spending continues to slow, retailers across distribution channels are setting their sights abroad.
Merchants such as Macy's, Bed Bath & Beyond and Crate & Barrel are laying the groundwork for international expansion with some already opening stores overseas.
Last month, Bed Bath & Beyond formed a joint venture with Home & More, S.A. de C.V., a Mexican products retailer.
As a result of a $4 million investment, the retailer became a 50 percent equity holder in a newly formed entity currently operating two stores in Mexico City under the name Home & More, which offer a wide assortment of home goods, such as textiles, ...
