NEW YORK -- Want to start a heated discussion among home furnishings vendors? Just mention Bed Bath & Beyond.
Similar to religion and politics, the category killer is a lightning rod for widely varied--and strongly felt--opinions.
To some vendors, Bed Bath is a well-oiled machine that is chugging along with no end in sight. To others, the chain is an overgrown, corporate bully with its best days clearly in its rear-view mirror.
Most vendor criticism of Bed Bath hinges on the retailer's size and its perceived inability to quickly respond to--or spark--trends.
