NEW YORK -- Vendor consolidation in the housewares sector should continue at a rapid pace on a continued wave of merger and acquisition activity, according to Nick Pavlidis, director of consumer investment banking for Robert W. Baird & Co.
"Housewares have had and will continue to have the most strategic [acquisition] activity," Pavlidis said. The recent wave of activity has been led by vendors such as Lifetime Brands, Helen of Troy, Groupe SEB and Libbey, he added.
The heavy consolidation activity within the housewares industry has and will continue to be driven by retailers' consolidation of their vendor bases.
