CHICAGO, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- First Chicago NBD Corporation (NYSE: FCN) today reported record net income of $385 million, or $1.26 per fully diluted common share, for the third quarter of 1997. Net income for the year-ago quarter was $358 million, or $1.08 per share, including a one-time charge of $18 million, or 4 cents per share, related to recapitalization of the Savings Association Insurance Fund (SAIF). Return on common stockholders' equity was 19.1%, compared with 16.7% a year ago.
