Oct. 10--After two days of muted response, Peco Energy Corp.'s chairman Thursday accused Enron Corp. of "attempting to prostitute the regulatory process in Pennsylvania" in its bid for a central role in the Philadelphia area's electricity market.
"There will be no deal with Enron. There is no chance of a deal," Peco chairman Corbin A. McNeill Jr. said at a news conference called to announce Peco's opposition to Enron's proposal, under which the Texas company would become the electricity supplier for any customer who does not select a supplier when competition begins in about a year.
