Oct. 12--Kennewick is on the brink of entering into a partnership that would give the Tri-Cities a modern convention center, 150-room luxury hotel, and sports and entertainment complex.
Doing so could boost the local economy, bring more shows to the Coliseum, give more ice time to youth hockey and skating programs, and help the Tri-Cities emerge from the shadow of Hanford.
But it won't happen for free and it won't be without risk to taxpayers.
On Tuesday, the city council will discuss the last details of the convention center, possibly wrapping up the deal by the end of the month.
