NEW YORK -- In 1970, when Tricia Guild started the Britain-based Designers Guild, a company best known for its use of bright color in bedding and textiles, she already had a clear vision of what she wanted it to become.

"I wanted to do more than create beautiful fabric; I wanted to create a lifestyle," Guild said during a recent lecture at 7W New York.

She's certainly accomplished that goal. In addition to brightly colored duvet covers and wall coverings, Designers Guild also produces goods that include wallets, home fragrances and upholstered furniture.
