When William Borowski first ran for elective office in Millbury in 2004, he was a new and unknown town resident.

"Since I was relatively new, it was important for me to have my last name prominent without distracting from who I am," said Mr. Borowski, who first served as an elected member on the Planning Board and is now a School Committee member.

Mr. Borowski asked around, surveyed the signs that cropped up in his town, and searched the Web, looking for ideas that made his stand out. He found Doelcam Display Inc. in Leicester.
