ATLANTA, April 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interface, Inc. , a worldwide floorcoverings company and global leader in sustainability, today announced results for the first quarter ended April 5, 2009.
Sales for the first quarter of 2009 were $199.3 million, compared with sales of $261.7 million in the first quarter of 2008, a decline of 23.9%. Approximately 9% of the sales decline was related to fluctuations in currency exchange rates relative to the year ago period. Excluding the previously announced restructuring charge of $5.7 million, operating income for the 2009 first quarter was $8.8 million, or 4.4% of sales, compared with operating income of $31.0 ...
