Dhaka, Apr30 (UNB) - The consulting firm hired to prepare project design of Padma Bridge suggested a double-decker superstructure with road traffic on the upper and rail on the lower levels which they think as the best solution for providing combined road-rail communications over the bridge.

Explaining the design Thursday they said the design suggested by them has a distinct advantage of minimizing the length of structure at the two ends of main bridge to carry the rail down to ground level, given the restriction on vertical grade for rail.
