A Madison couple is hoping to open an internationally flavored gastropub at 20 W. Mifflin St. on the Capitol Square in the old Sucre space, the French-style patisserie that closed in November.
The new restaurant/bar, to be named the Coopers Tavern, will feature brews from around the world as well as local favorites from Wisconsin craft breweries, with a menu designed to complement the beers.
Wines by the glass and a limited selection of hard liquor also would be available, co-owner Peter McElvanna said. He is a partner in the venture with his wife, Amy Marsman.
