MORE than one in ten of the UK's electoral fraud allegations were lodged in the West Midlands during last year's local polls, voting watchdogs have revealed.
The figures emerged from the Electoral Commission as the body proclaimed last year's elections in England and Wales "free from major incidents" of electoral fraud.
The 16 million votes cast in the local, London mayoral and London Assembly ballots resulted in just 103 "malpractice" cases, it said.
But of those 103 cases, 11 were in the West Midlands, just one behind Greater Manchester where the highest number of malpractice allegations were reported.
