Being a bit of a boffin, Skelm has long been fascinated by nominative determinism. That is, of course, the name given by The New Scientist magazine to the suggestion that there is a link between people's names and their occupation.
Several people have apparently researched this issue and found, for example, that a greater proportion of people called Dennis became dentists than should be expected.
Recently much has been made of the fact that Wall Street scammer Bernard Madoff made off with people's money.
