The fiber optic business is likely to get more livelier and competitive with the entry of The Kenya Power & Lighting Company (KPLC) into the fray.
The power utility formally entered the telecoms business following grating of the requisite licence by the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK).
CCK Director General, Mr Charles Njoroge, issued the Network Facility Provider - Tier 2 licence to KPLCs Managing Director, Eng. Joseph Njoroge at the commissions office recently that will enable the utility to lease excess capacity of its fibre to licenced telecommunications service providers.
