In late teen I played in a power trio. The bassist and I each had a 100-watt Marshall stack -- which then cost around $1,100 -- and thought we were pretty, cool. "This is fun," we enthused. "Let's move more air."
So I added another pair of 4x12s and the bassist acquired a second full stack. With three non-master 110-watt Marshall heads and eight 4x12 cabs, we nailed the audience to the walls. Trust me, blasting a P-90 goldtop Les Poul through 16 12" Celestions is a transcendental experience.
