This past summer brought the latest revelation in what is undoubtedly one of the biggest horror stories and longest cover-ups of the cold war: above-ground atmospheric testing of nuclear weapons by the United States. In August the National Cancer Institute was forced to disclose the existence of a study of radiation exposure attributable to above-ground testing of nuclear weapons carried out by the United States military within the United States at the Nevada Test Site between 1951 and 1962.
