Output by industrial companies based in Latvia's second biggest city Daugavpils in south-east of the country added up to 34.938 million lats (EUR 49.71 mln) in the first quarter of the year 2009, down 0.4% from the same period in 2008, reported BNS the local government of Daugavpils.

Production of concrete construction elements shrank most by 81.4% in the first three months of this year, production of plastic windows and doors declined 65.2%, output in the printing industry fell 55.6%, for chemical products the decrease was 52.8%, for plastic packaging 40.5% and for optical fiber cables 24%.
