MANILA, April 30 (PNA) -- Retail prices in Metro Manila dropped by 4.7 percent in February this year from the same period a year ago, the National Statistics Office (NSO) reported Thursday. In its General Retail Price Index (GRPI), the agency said declines in prices on a monthly basis were registered in the heavily weighted food at -0.4 percent from 1.5 percent and in manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials at -0.2 percent from zero growth. Crude materials, inedible except fuels and miscellaneous manufactured articles, retained their previous month's rates of zero growth and 0.1 percent, respectively, the agency added.
