Article: Teijin launches eco-friendly suiting fabric.(Textiles and fibres)

Japanese textile firm Teijin Fibers Ltd has launched what it claims to be the world's first environmentally friendly polyester and wool blend fabric suitable for suits and trousers.

Containing Teijin's Ecopet yarn, which is made from recycled plastic bottles, the new fabric is called Eco-A-Wear and is described by the company as being "soft to the touch and even wrinkle resistant".

Other Eco-A-Wear products include blends with viscose and cotton or 100% fully recycled polyester, and some apparel made with these fabrics can be machine washed--thus reducing the need for dry cleaning.
