Oct. 23--The props and the rhetoric were familiar: plastic buckets emblazoned with "No Bailout" stickers; buttons with the international "no" slash through the Peco name; a traffic sign reading "Stop ratepayer rip-offs."
The only thing missing was Lance Haver, the consumer activist who had orchestrated similar media events before signing an armistice with Peco Energy in August.
Wednesday, Haver's former comrades in the consumer movement brought the buckets to an Independence Mall news conference to pressure the PUC to reject that agreement, which would allow Peco to collect $5.5 billion in "stranded costs."
