PRESENT
* Have you ever fumbled with a map in your car only to find that the place you're looking for has vanished in a hole at the crease?
Technology to the rescue. For a couple thousand dollars (plus the price of a luxury sedan), you can be tracked and guided by a satellite-linked navigation system built into your dashboard. Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites and sophisticated software locate your car on scaleable maps, provide detailed audio and visual instructions to your destination, list local points of interest and more. And I used to think that a luxury map was one printed on rich Corinthian leather.
