The most popular weight-loss drugs on the market--the "fen-phen" combo and Redux--have struck out in their efforts to offer millions of overweight Americans an easy, safe answer to weight problems. Three major strikes against the drugs have intensified health concerns, with the news seemingly getting worse each passing day.
The latest salvos may have sealed the drugs' fates; prescriptions for all three drugs have plummeted since midsummer. In September, Nutri/System Weight Loss Centers announced it would stop using fen-phen and the state of Florida banned doctors from prescribing the popular combo.
