Article: Immersion Expands to Robotic Surgery Market.

Immersion Corp., a provider of haptic (touch feedback) technology, announced that Mako Surgical Corp., a company focusing on robotically-assisted orthopedic surgery, has obtained a worldwide license to Immersion's haptic patents for use in its orthopedic robotic products.

According to the company, Mako is the first surgical robotics licensee for Immersion.

The company noted that worldwide robotic markets amounted to $626.5 million in 2007, reached $1 billion in 2008, and are forecasted to achieve $14 billion by 2014. (Piribo).
