ILOILO CITY, May 5 (PNA) -- Beneficiaries of the PLDT-SMART Amazing Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village in Barangay Sooc in Arevalo district here have started crafting bags out of used tarpaulins as a livelihood opportunity.
SMART, in partnership with Earth Day Network Philippines Inc. (EDNPI), has initiated the tarpaulin recycling project to provide additional income to the GK residents.
At least 15 residents have been trained how to make sturdy school bags, tote and grocery bags, and utility cases from SMART tarpaulins used in giant billboards and sari-sari stores.
