SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1997--The Victim Information and Notification Everyday (V.I.N.E.) system is designed to automatically notify crime victims of a change in the custody status of an offender.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is one of the first agencies in Southern California to implement the system, developed by the VINE Co. of Louisville, Ky. Sheriff Gary Penrod, in conjunction with corporate sponsor General Telephone (GTE) and the VINE Co., held a news conference Tuesday to announce the partnership.
