Members dive into therapy, fitness
When Marcia Freeman sprained her knee while on vacation last year, she knew she'd have to stay off it until it had healed, however long that took.
But instead of sitting around her house, which is part of the Presbyterian Homes retirement community in Evanston, she hobbled over to the then-new aquatic fitness center and eased into the warm exercise pool. Long before she thought she'd heal, she was back to her regular routine of bicycling and walking.
In the last several years, therapeutic aquatic centers have made a splash in the Chicago area - at least 10 local hospitals have built and operate such centers, and more ...
