Oct. 28--Despite a decade of rapid growth in the child care industry, working parents are struggling to find a place for their children in Monterey County, a situation that may only worsen.
Dramatic information about the state of child care in the county was presented to about 100 county business and community leaders at a seminar Friday on the Economics of Child Care, held at the Inn at Spanish Bay.
About 11,300 children are in child care in Monterey County, in 824 licensed establishments. But there are only about 240 openings.
