Jimmy Risk is living up to his name.
The owner of a Romeo-based business that develops software to manage radio station listener loyalty programs, Risk has bought the metro Detroit market rights to YourNews.com, a ZIP code-based news and information site that Risk is billing as an online newspaper.
The undertaking comes as many print newspapers are cutting back because of steep advertising declines. That, in turn, has fueled the phenomenon of startup online news sites that are staffed by retired or out-of-work professional journalists and are not merely opinion blogs.
