Oct. 26--Hankook Synthetics won't be the first Korean-owned business in the Augusta area. There are dozens of them in south Richmond County, primarily along Deans Bridge Road.
Koreans living in the Augusta area were instrumental in persuading Korea's largest polyester producer to build its $1.2 billion plant in Augusta Corporate Park, industrial recruitment officials said. Eugene Chin Yu, vice president of strategic planning with Commercial & Military Systems in Augusta, played a key role in representing Augusta's Korean and American communities to the company, recruiters said.
