Srinagar, Apr. 29 -- Chairmen of both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC), Mohammad Yaseen Malik and about a dozen other separatist leaders remained under house arrest in Kashmir valley to prevent them from launching anti-election campaign.
Official sources said it was a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
A spokesman of the breakaway HC said a large number of paramilitary forces and state police personnel remained deployed outside the Hyderpora residence of chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
