HOUGHTON, Mich., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Upper Peninsula Energy Corporation (Nasdaq: UPEN) reports unaudited consolidated net income of $5,130,000 or $1.73 per average Common share for the twelve months ended September 30, 1997. Twelve months' earnings for the same period a year ago were $4,077,000 or $1.37 per share. For both the nine months ended September 30, 1997 and 1996, earnings were $3,709,000 or $1.25 per share. For the third quarter ended September 30, 1997, earnings were $1,119,000 or $0.38 per share compared to $1,002,000 or $0.34 per share for the same period in 1996.
