PACIFIC OCEAN--It's worse than Godzilla, more destructive than King Kong, and more murderous than Dracula. Most frightening of all, it's a real-life sea monster that has only begun what is expected to be an enormous path of destruction.

The name of this fearsome creature is El Nino (NEEN-yo). El Nino doesn't look much like a monster. It has no scales, claws, or fangs. In fact, unless you are a trained scientist, you can't even see El Nino. It is a huge area of unnaturally warm water in the Pacific Ocean, now stretching some 7,000 miles from east of the Philippines to the coast of Peru.
