Although a rare cancer, testicular cancer is the most common solid tumor in males ages 15-35 (Jemal et al., 2007). It is treatable and often curable. The American Cancer Society (ACS) (2008) expected 8,090 new cases of testicular cancer and 380 deaths from the disease in the United States in 2008. Germ cell testicular cancers, which compose about 95% of testicular cancers, will be reviewed (Feldman, Bosl, Scheinfeld, & Motzer, 2008).
Cancer of the testes originates from germ cells, stromal cells, or nongerm cells. Treatment options depend on the histological germ cell type of the testicular cancer, which can be either seminoma or nonseminoma. Surgery, radiation, ...
