Locally based Sony Electronics is restructuring its consumer sales and marketing operations and eliminating an undisclosed number of positions.

Sony Consumer Sales, which managed Sony's multi-billion-dollar U.S. consumer sales portfolio, is being eliminated and its president, Jay Vandenbree, is taking early retirement after 23 years.

The company is combining those and other merchandising functions to be headed up by Mike Fasulo, who was chief marketing officer at Sony Electronics and is now reporting directly to CEO Stan Glasgow.
