Enbridge Inc., the biggest transporter of oil to the U.S. from Canada s oil sands, said first-quarter profit more than doubled after the company sold a pipeline in Colombia.

Net income climbed to C$558.1 million ($473.4 million), or C$1.53 a share, from C$251.3 million, or 70 cents, a year earlier, the Calgary-based company said in a statement. Excluding a gain of C$329 million on the sale, Enbridge earned 74 cents a share, 1 cent higher than the average of 12 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg.
