Article: Pennsylvania Gov. Ridge Signs Health-Care Bill; New Law Ensures Mastectomy Coverage, Health-Insurance Portability

HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge today signed into law a bill to improve health care in Pennsylvania, requiring insurers to fully cover the needs of breast-cancer victims who undergo a mastectomy, and providing health-insurance portability for those switching from a group plan to an individual plan.

"Today, we're here to celebrate a victory for Pennsylvania's families," Ridge said. "This new law gives Pennsylvanians more control over their health care. Now they can change jobs without the fear of losing health insurance. And they can expect full, reconstructive surgery after the devastation of breast cancer.
