BOSTON - Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Murray's chief of staff, James B. Leary, has accepted a new job as associate vice chancellor for community affairs at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester.
Mr. Leary, a Worcester resident and former state representative from Worcester, left the Legislature in 2007 to become chief of staff and general counsel in the lieutenant governor's office when Mr. Murray and Gov. Deval L. Patrick were elected.
He has since played a key role as a liaison with legislators and worked on numerous state projects and a broad range of state policy initiatives.
