Nov. 4--Three Monterey County banks have reported higher earnings for the third quarter and a third has declared a cash dividend. Listed alphabetically:
--Central Coast Bancorp, Salinas, holding company for Bank of Salinas and Cypress Bank, has reported earnings of $1.7 million, or 35 cents a share for the quarter ending Sept. 30, up 11 percent from $1.5 million, or 33 cents a share, for the same period in 1996.
Assets in the quarter rose to $463.6 million, up 27.8 percent from $362.8 million in the same period a year earlier. The bank attributed the increase to the acquisition of two Wells Fargo branches and deposit growth.
