A new educational alliance seems destined to save the struggling Worcester Center for Crafts and fan the flames of its state-of-the-art glass-blowing studio.
Worcester State College will come to the rescue of the 153-year-old crafts institution, which announced in January it would close to the public because of a crippling budget shortfall. The announcement kicked off a flood of offers for help from Center for Crafts students and loyal friends throughout the area and across the country. But when all the heartfelt offers were tallied they did not result in any substantial fundraising.
