The new Czech prime minister has made the winding-up of the current EU Presidency his first priority. Jan Fischer also declared he is in favour of the Lisbon Treaty, without, however, being able to intervene in the signature of the text by the head of state.
Whereas the cabinet succeeding Mirek Topolanek's resigning government entered into office on 9 May, the new head of the government visited Brussels, on 12 May, to meet European Commission members and Council representatives.
