LONDON -- Hush Puppies has joined forces with British women's wear designer Clements Ribeiro to create a shoe line for spring-summer 1998 in an effort to elevate its fashion image in this country as it has in the United States.

The move comes as Stylo PLC, which recently acquired the Hush Puppies retail chain from British Shoe, struggles to improve the brand's performance at retail.
