North Lanarkshire Council has granted planning permission for revised plans for the new Caldercruix station, which is being constructed as part of the Airdrie-Bathgate rail link project.
Network Rail published proposals earlier this year to relocate the station after ground investigations showed that complex and expensive reclamation work would be required before a station could be built at its first-choice location on the site of a former paper mill. Drainage of three lagoons that formed part of the mills pulp filtration system would have been required to allow for the creation of an access road and parking at the planned station. ...
