SHREWSBURY - The 200-seat theater at the Southgate at Shrewsbury senior housing complex holds live performances throughout the year, but few people in the area are aware it exists.
The theater was built as part of the development 20 years ago, but today it boasts a new sound system and features plays, big band performances, operas, ballets and lectures.
"It is a fully equipped, professional theater," said Deanna S. Swan, program director at Southgate at Shrewsbury. "We work with Mass Theatrica and co-produce their shows."
Ms. Swan said the theater was previously used as a multipurpose room.
